What CPS actually is

Clicks per second is not a mysterious esports stat. It is total valid clicks divided by elapsed time. This test starts the clock on your first click so you are not punished for reading the page, and it stops on a hard duration you pick before you start — 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, 30, 60, or 100 seconds. During the run you see live CPS and the running click count. After the run you get average CPS, peak CPS over a short window, and a percentile against people who took the same kind of test.

The 5-second test is the default because it is the search term with the most intent and the best balance of burst and control. One second measures a pure burst. One hundred seconds measures whether your form survives fatigue and whether you start misfiring. We keep the click pad huge, we hide every ad and every nav element while you are clicking, and we keep a 150 px gap between the pad and any ad slot on the result screen. Accidental ad clicks are how CPS sites get AdSense banned. This page is built so that cannot happen.

How to improve your score

  • Use a real mouse, not a trackpad. Trackpads debounce and cannot double-click at the rates a switch can. A light gaming mouse with a clean switch will raise your 5-second CPS by a whole point or more versus a laptop pad.
  • Settle on one clicking method and repeat it. Standard clicking (one finger) is the honest baseline. Drag clicking and butterfly clicking inflate the number and are banned in a lot of competitive games. If you want a score you can use, pick a method and stick to it so the personal best means something.
  • Warm up for 10 seconds, then run the test. Cold tendons and a cold switch both under-report. A short warm-up on the pad (then hit Try again) is the most reliable way to see your actual ceiling.
  • Relax the unused fingers. Death-gripping the mouse slows the click finger. Rest the palm, keep the click finger’s first joint doing the work, and let the other fingers go quiet.
  • Train the duration you actually need. Minecraft PvP cares about burst CPS. Idle clicker endurance is a different motor pattern. Use the 1-second and 5-second modes for burst, 60 and 100 for stamina, and do not confuse the two scores.

FAQ

What is the average CPS?

On a 5-second test with a normal mouse, most people land between 5 and 7 clicks per second. 8–9 is solid. 10+ takes practice or a specialized clicking method. Averages fall as the timer gets longer because fatigue and missed contacts show up.

How do I click faster?

Use a mouse with a short, light switch, warm up, and click from the first finger joint rather than the whole hand. If you are already above ~9 CPS on standard clicking, further gains usually come from technique changes (butterfly, jitter) that many games consider cheating. Decide what “fair” means for you before you chase 15.

Is 8 CPS good?

Yes. 8 CPS on a 5-second run is above average and in the “good” tier. It is a realistic target for someone who plays click-heavy games without specialized clicking techniques.

Why is my 1-second CPS so much higher than my 5-second CPS?

Because a one-second burst does not have to be sustainable. Peak motor rate and sustainable rate are different. Compare 1-second scores only to other 1-second scores. That is why this site has dedicated pages for 1s, 5s, 10s, 60s, and 100s.

Does this test allow hold / drag clicking?

The pad counts pointer-down events the browser reports. If your mouse or software emits extra clicks, they will count. We do not try to detect drag clicking. If you want an honest standard-click score, don’t use it.

Why are there no ads on the click pad?

Google treats accidental clicks on ads during a CPS test as invalid traffic and will ban the publisher. Ads on this page appear only on the result screen and in the article below, never beside the pad, and they are hidden for the entire run.
